Hello! I’m excited to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Marci Lyn Waleff, and I’ve been happily married to my husband Stevan for 28 years. We have three wonderful daughters: Alexa Lyn, 23, is a Slippery Rock University graduate with degrees in Special Education and Early Childhood Education; Lilly Anna, 18, is entering Penn State this fall to major in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences; and Erica Ellen, 12, is currently in seventh grade. Our girls definitely keep us busy!
In my spare time, I enjoy being deeply involved in my daughters’ activities—I’m a proud Girl Scout leader, volleyball mom, basketball mom, band mom, drama club mom, choir mom, dance mom, track and field mom, and scout mom. I also cherish the opportunity to pass along my heritage through the Native American Dance community. When I find a quiet moment, I love hiking, kayaking, cooking, sewing, making jewelry, horseback riding, and spending quality time with my kids.
In 2019, our family started a small educational farm, where we currently raise goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and rabbits. In the rare bits of spare time I can carve out, I train our goats as pack animals and lead educational hikes with the goal of getting people outdoors and connected with nature!
I currently hold a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education and Special Education from Slippery Rock University. I also earned a Master’s Degree in Reading as a Reading Specialist, also from Slippery Rock University. Most recently, I completed my Doctorate of Education in Teacher Leadership at Walden University, where my research focused on the impact of mastery orientation goal setting on reading achievement and reading self-efficacy in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students.
