After 32 years in the classroom, I transitioned into administration as the Secondary Math Coordinator for Carroll County Public Schools in Maryland. In this role, I supervised and evaluated 135 secondary math teachers across 17 middle and high schools. My responsibilities included providing ongoing professional development, facilitating the planning and implementation of standards-based curricula, supporting the integration of instructional technology and digital resources, screening new candidates, and collaborating regularly with building administrators and central office staff.
I served in this position for 15 years and truly enjoyed the challenges and rewards of supporting math educators across the county. I retired on July 1, 2021, and since then, a number of exciting new opportunities have come my way. Currently, in addition to teaching online classes, I work as a supervisor of student teachers at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. It has been a joy to work with the next generation of educators.
